For everyone worried that they won’t get the right ring for their partner, as well as for those who fear that their partner will get the wrong ring communication and cooperation are the key. Engagement rings are special, they hold a promise and symbolize your love and dedication to your partner, so, of course you want it to be perfect. Bringing reinforcements with you is a good thing if you’re insecure your partners friend or family member is always a good choice, but it’s not uncommon to bring your partner as well. After all, the most important thing is for them to like it, so why not ask for their honest opinion before you buy the ring?

How to wear it

When you’re used to wearing expensive jewellery, wearing your engagement ring will not change anything, but if you’re not, you should make some changes in your style. It’s an unwritten rule that your jewellery should match, so you should avoid mixing silver with rose gold, and rose gold with white gold. Also, if your engagement ring is eye-catching and intricately designed, you shouldn’t wear six other rings on that hand.

Keep It Safe

Women usually wear their engagement rings all the time, but you should remember that there are times when it’s better to take it off. For example, when you’re going to the gym to lift weights (or use other equipment) or when going for a swim. Playing tennis or golf can also damage your ring, while long swims in cold water will make your fingers shrink a bit and your ring can slip from your finger without you noticing it until it’s too late.

Engagement ring maintenance

You know how shiny and sparkly diamonds are, but that beautiful shine can be dulled by oil and dirt build-up. These build-ups are inevitable, especially if you wear the ring all the time, but that doesn’t mean that it should stay dirty. Have the ring cleaned at least a couple of times a year, or if you don’t want to have it cleaned, you can clean it yourself at home. You only need to dip the ring in a cup of warm water with a few drops of mild soap or dishwasher detergent, and let it sit there for a few minutes (you can leave it overnight as well). Use a soft baby toothbrush to gently scrub the ring and the stone and rinse it, but make sure to cover the drain!

Considering the fact that most engagement rings are very expensive, it’s good to think about insurance along with the size and design. Diamond engagement rings are extremely valuable, they cost a lot, but they also carry a great sentimental value, and it’s good to have insurance when you spend a lot of money on such a piece. Buy the ring from a jeweller who offers a warranty, and make sure you include the cost of insurance into your budget.

Engagement is a wonderful thing, it symbolizes commitment and dedication, and is usually a step towards marriage. It’s easy to get confused and even scared by all the choices and possibilities when purchasing an engagement ring, but you should remember that simply by talking openly to your partner, you will be able to make the right choice.
